In September 1967, the Stone Poneys released their version of "Different Drum",
a song originally written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees.

The Poneys were part of the happening music scene centered around Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles,
practicing in the local laundromat, performing at the Troubadour, and opening for groups such as the Doors.

The song ended up being the first single to chart for the band's young female singer, Linda Ronstadt.

For week 37 of our 50th anniversary celebrations, save 19.67% on Walton's bodhran drums. It's not that I'm knockin' you...

Although it didn't happen until 1970, September 18th marks a tragic day in rock and roll history, when Jimi Hendrix passed away.
Hendrix was a pioneer of guitar effects such as the wah pedal, which was introduced in 1967.

What do you think: would he have made better music today, with the help of current technology, or is his legacy best remembered with analog devices?

For week 36 of our 50th anniversary celebrations, SAVE 19.67% on the original Dunlop CryBaby pedal.
Here's Hendrix enjoying the September 1967 issue of MAD. The cover was drawn by Norman Mingo. After all the jacks are in their boxes.....
