James Hill, ukuele master, recently brought us one of his tenor ukes that needed some work after logging several thousand miles.  Here's a quick walk-through of the project:

The bridge has started to lift, and needs to be reglued.  You can see indications of a temporary Super Glue fix performed on the road.

James also wants a Fishman pickup and preamp transferred from another uke, to give him control of his sound from the stage. "Thumb's up" does not always mean the same thing to a soundman in another part of the world!

He said he was "90% sure" he wanted to make the switch. Here's the missing 10%!

Perfect fit!

The reglued bridge.  We removed the remnants of the Super Glue job- looks cleaner now.

Reglued bridge from another angle.

Mingo Music Sales Honored with NAMM Milestone Award for 50 Years of Service in the Music Products Industry

-Truro business recognized for exemplary business practices that have stood the test of time-

Truro, NS (January, 2017) —At the 2017 NAMM Show, Mingo Music Sales of Truro, Nova Scotia was honored with the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Milestone Award for 50 years of service in the music products industry. Presented annually by NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond, the Milestone Award recognizes music businesses that have flourished through changing business environments to reach a noteworthy anniversary.

“It's a huge honor to be recognized by the largest international organization of our peers,” said David Mingo, current owner of Mingo Music.

Bob Mingo started his retail music store in the basement of his house in 1967. Quickly outgrowing that location, he moved the business in the early 1970s. He was joined full-time by his son David in 1992, who had graduated from Acadia University. After Bob's passing in 2003, David took over ownership and relocated the store to its current location at historic 590 Prince Street in 2006.

“NAMM is honored to recognize Mingo Music for their 50 years in business and in service to both the music products industry and to their community, ” noted Lamond. “Mingo Music has demonstrated the perseverance and passion to stand the test of time, inspire countless others and create a more musical world for the benefit of all.”

The Milestone Awards are presented annually to industry leaders celebrating notable anniversaries during The NAMM Show, held during the month of January in Anaheim, California. The NAMM Show brings together over 100,000 industry professionals to preview the latest gear, attend educational sessions, and network with peers from more than 120 countries and regions.
